New Delhi, June 11:

Two journalists, one from a television news channel and the other from a digital platform, have been arrested from Noida in connection to a Rs 65-crore blackmail and extortion, police said on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Shazia Nisar, employed with the news channel, and Adarsh Jha, a news anchor with a digital platform linked to a newspaper.

According to Amit Kumar, in-charge of Sector 58 Police Station, the duo allegedly extorted large sums of money from the channel’s management.

Police said the amount in question ran into crores of rupees.

During the investigation, authorities recovered ₹34.5 lakh in cash from Nisar’s residence.

Three FIRs have been registered against the accused, based on complaints filed by the channel’s management, its HR department, and the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), officials added.

Following their appearance in court, both individuals have been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation remains ongoing, with more details awaited.
