URI BARAMULLA, AUGUST 11 :
Officials at Jammu and Kashmir Bank, branch unit Uri, have suspended two of its employees over alleged negligence into misappropriation of around fourteen lac rupees from an ATM.
People in the knowhow of the things told GNS that the bank officials were alerted on receiving frequent complaints from customers for not being able to make transactions through the ATM. Believed earlier to be a technical snag, the bank however after checking the machine found that the cash amount in tune of around fourteen lac was physically missing from the machine, they said.
The bank branch officials have primarily suspended two of its staffers over alleged negligence towards their duties and also informed the police about the incident, they said adding several persons have been detained by the police for questioning.
A police officer confirming the development told GNS that investigations into the matter are going on. “Details into the matter would be shared once the investigations are over”, he said.
Meanwhile the ATM continues to remain closed since the occurrence. (GNS)
