Sheeri: Nazish Ali from Sheeri, a specially-abled student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla passed her exams with flying colours as she secured distinction in twelfth class examinations, the results of which were declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Tuesday.

Visually impaired Nazish defied all odds and continued to shine in her previous exams also but this year she couldn’t get the scribe, however, JKBOSE gave special marks relaxation to students falling in the category Children with Special Need (CWSN).

“I am a daughter with a difference; I had told my father that I will prove it while traveling with him to Amratsar Panjab for treatment of my visual impairment. After the pandemic hit the world and  Educational institutions were shut all across, normal students compensated with online learning however students like make faced the uphill task,” said Nazish who scored 473 marks begging distinction.

“ I was expecting good marks but distinction in class 12th made me a proud daughter. My father often cursed his fate as I was visually challenged but today I brought a smile to the face of my parents, that is enough for me,” she added.  

Thrilled with joy when they came to know that their daughter had bagged distinction, parents of Nazish said, “We are expecting good marks but she surprised us with distinction.  The result is beyond my expectation,”said her father Ali Mohmmad, a government school teacher.

“I am highly thankful to Almighty Allah, my parents, and teachers for  their love and support. My message to my fellow students, especially physically challenged ones, is to believe in Allah and his help, put consistent effort and work hard throughout the year instead of burning midnight oil for a month or two, avoid television and social networking,” informed  Nazish.

“I have firm belief that hard work never goes to waste but success is not possible without support of parents and teachers,”said Nazish who did his basic schooling from IEI School Sheeri.

Nazish wants to become a good human being and a social activist who would fight for the rights of handicapped people facing multiple challenges in their life.
