Jammu, Feb 23 :

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Wednesday issued a circular directing constitution of teams of well-trained officers to handle the cyber-crime investigation.

The circular, a copy of which has been forwarded to special DGP Crime, J&K, ADGP, Jammu Zone and IGP Kashmir, requires them to forms teams of well-trained officers to handle cyber-crime investigations in their each unit or wing, a police spokesperson said in a statement to issued hear . It also calls for observing ‘cyber awareness day” on the first Wednesday of every month to create awareness on cyber related frauds in all vernacular languages.

The awareness may include Phishing simulations, Quiz Contacts, lectures, Audio-Visuals presentation on “Best Practices”, Social Media Hygiene, Short films, Poster/leaflet etc, in local languages, Intelligence operations “whole of nation” in order to educate public and private sector and increase cyber resilience of the national event, the spokesperson said.

“With the boom in digital platform/markets etc and digital services provided by different banks and institutions including government departments, cyber frauds, phishing etc cases are reported,” he spokesperson said. “This step will go a long way in making people aware and will also sharpen investigation skills of the J&K Police investigation officers handling the cyber crimes.” (GNS)
