SRINAGAR, JUNE 29 :

Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken a serious note of the protests by Sikh fraternity following the incident of the ‘love affair’ of a Sikh Girl with a Muslim boy as narrated in the video message by the protesters. In a statement Chairman of JKCSF Abdul Qayoom Wani said that Kashmir is an example of religious harmony and Sikhs have been here with people in odd times and any pain or trouble to the community must be felt by one and all equally if on ground anything has been done wrong by anybody belonging to any community. Wani said that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and its commandment is that, there is no force to make believe things.Nobody shoud be allowed to misrepresent Islam.

JKCSF vehemently takes a serious note of the situation and appeals the religious scholars to come forward and make it clear that wrongs, if any, are committed by individuals and not by the community in whole. Chairman JKCSF said that an immediate probe should be initiated in the case to look what the reality is and if anybody is found guilty he must be booked under law and given severe punishment. Wani asked the local media to play role at such crucial times by fact-finding and thus helping in clearing the confusions because if media will remain silent the enemy will take its undue advantage and ignite the tensions between the two communities.

JKCSF appealed scholars of both the communities Muslims and Sikhs to sit and find the facts and to upheld the self-esteem of every Kashmiri daughter of any religion.
