Gulmarg, Dec 15 :

Tourism stakeholders in Gulmarg are facing a tough time due to defunct street lights saying it is difficult to move out or walk in the dark.

According to them, many sports including the Highland Park area lack street lights or the lights are not working.

They told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that as soon as dusk sets in, the entire area plunges into darkness despite being a prime tourist destination.

“We can’t walk in darkness, especially during the winter season. The road is full of snow and it becomes tough for us to trudge in snow due to the absence of street lights”, said a local, Abhrahim.

They requested the LG administration and the concerned department install lights as soon as possible so that the commuters find a sigh of relief.

Despite repeated attempts, officials from the Gulmarg Development Authority could not be contacted—(KNO)
