Srinagar, June 21:

Former Chief Minister and Vice President of national conference, Omar Abdullah, Wednesday said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were to participate in elections in J&K, their chances of securing more than 10 seats would be slim.

He also expressed optimism about the current situation in J&K being conducive for upcoming political events, including the G20 summit, Panchayat elections, and Lok Sabha (LS) polls. However, Abdullah noted that the situation may not favor the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), suggesting they would struggle to secure more than 10 seats if elections were held.

Abdullah also highlighted the importance of the Home Ministry’s involvement in determining the feasibility of conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The Election Commission of India, he stated, cannot make a decision regarding the polls without the input and guidance of the Home Ministry.

Addressing the people of J&K, Abdullah emphasized the need for patience, assuring them that their efforts would yield fruitful results in due course. While acknowledging the challenging circumstances, he encouraged the populace to remain hopeful and trust that the appropriate time for elections would come.(KNS).
