Residents of Chak Kanispora, Pathula, Tawheed Colony held protest over shortage of drinking water and blocked the Srinager-Baramulla National Highway for hours
A large number of people including women and
children from Kanispora assembled at Baramulla – Srinager Highway and held protest over non-availability of drinking water from the past three months.
The protestors raised slogans against the Jal Shakti Department and district administration.
The protestors told “Urdu News Kashmir” that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water from the past three months and no one is listening to their issue.
The protestors said, adding that the situation has turned worst, which has forced them to hold protest and block the highway.
The worst sufferers are the women folk as they face manifold problems in their routine life, the protestors said.
One of the protesting lady said that they are hardly managing water for drinking purposes, let alone washing clothes and doing other chores. “We are finding it very hard without the drinking water and our miseries have compounded for a few days due to scorching sun heat. It is our appeal to the government to resume water supply to our areas,” she added.
Later, the protesters appealed to the concerned authorities to redress the water issue immediately in their areas.
