The Baramulla Police in coordination with Revenue department have initiated proclamation proceedings under Section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against Abid Qayoom Lone son of Abdul Qayoom Lone resident of Wussan Khoie Pattan who was allegedly involved in several acts of terrorism.
In this regard, FIR No 120/2023 u/s 7/25 I A Act, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 UA (P) Act, 4/5 Explosive Substances Act stands already registered against him of Police Station Pattan.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure while sharing the details said that Baramulla Police is committed to uphold the law and to ensure the safety and security of general public.
“We are working closely with other agencies to follow due process and bring such elements to justice,” SSP Baramulla said.
He said these proceedings have been initiated against the terrorist who is evading his arrest as open non-bailable warrant issued on August 17 of 2023 could not get executed against him.
“Accordingly, proclamation notice under section 82 of CrPC issued by the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Baramulla dated September 21 of 2023 has been pasted and circulated at his residence and other prominent places in his respective native villages along with revenue officials,” he said.
He said the directions have been issued that the said wanted terrorist shall surrender before investigation officer or court of law otherwise further proceedings will be initiated accordingly against him.
The Police Party was headed by SDPO Pattan assisted by SHO PS Pattan and In-charge Police Post Wussan.
The Police said the exercise was carried out in presence of Executive Magistrate, Pattan and Sarpanch, Lumerdar, Chowkidar of respective village.
Baramulla Police also used drum beating to inform the general public about the ongoing efforts to apprehend the said active terrorist who is required in connection with investigation of above-mentioned terror related case.
“In addition to these efforts, Baramulla Police is actively engaging community to ensure terror free District. Recent initiatives also include the introduction of community policing programs and heightened security measures,” SSP Baramulla said.
The proclamation proceeding and property attachment are part of a comprehensive effort to address terrorism and maintain the rule of law.
