One day Orientation programme for Principal DIETs and Associate Coordinators for successful conduct of State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) 2023 was conducted at SCERT-JK Srinagar on Saturday.

JKSCERT official said that NCERT under the aegis of Ministry of Education, Government of India is conducting State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) 2023 in collaboration with SCERT-JK for grades 3rd, 6th and 9th, on 3rd November, 2023 in the entire to assess the health of the Education System of UT of J&K.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the official in a statement said, “The test is being conducted in both Government and private Schools. SCERT has nominated Dist. level Officers as Coordinators and HODs as Associate Coordinators.”

“Around more than 2 lac students of class 3, 6th and 9th are assesses in Mathematics and languages,” it reads.

It also states that in order to train Field Investigators and other stake holders , SCERT has conducted one day offline orientation for Principal DIETs and other functionaries for successful Conduct of the said Programme to acquaint them with the tools and techniques for successful conduct of the said test.

Bashrat Saleem Sr. Academic Officer welcomed the participants and Riyaz Ahmad Dar Incharge Planning SCERT presented vote of thanks.

Gulam Hassan Reshi deliberated on the various tools and techniques of the said test viz a viz role and responsibilities at various levels, maintaining the sanctity and filling of OMRs and answered the queries of the participants

He said that the State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) for Grades III, VI, and IX stands as a pivotal initiative, aligning itself with the transformative goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020.

“Education is a journey encompassing foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary stages, each playing a critical role in shaping a student’s capabilities and potential. NEP 2020 envisions a holistic, skill-oriented, and outcome-driven education system, emphasizing the importance of regularly assessing students’ competencies. In this context, SEAS shines as a beacon of educational reform, designed to assess, analyse, and enhance the competencies of our young minds,” he said.

Reshi further said that one remarkable feature of SEAS is its uniform and standardised implementation across all blocks in India, ensuring equal opportunities for competency assessment regardless of geographic or socio-economic disparities.

Dr Nazneen Mehraj also highlighted the importance of SEAS and briefed the participants regarding importance of such surveys.

Director SCERT-JK Prof, Parikshit Sing Manhas while highlighting the importance of the said exercise, instructed all the Principal DIETs to work very hard for the successful conduct of the said Test. The exercise is being monitored by the top level of Government machinery.
