‘Senior medicos to visit peripheral hospitals once in a week’

Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): The divisional administration Kashmir has ordered a constitution of teams of doctors from tertiary care hospitals to make frequent visits to the peripheral COVID care centers in Kashmir.

The order has been issued in a bid to reduce the fatality rate in peripheral hospitals and referrals to tertiary care hospitals.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in a letter order issued by Divisional Commissioner, Director SKIMS, Principal GMC Srinagar and Principal Medical College Bemina, reads that the move will ensure much-needed transparency and increase confidence of patients admitted in these centers.

The trio has been asked to depute a team of doctors once in a week to peripheral Covid hospitals to tackle the challenges posed by present Covid pandemic effectively, reduce fatality rate and referrals to the tertiary care hospitals.

“In order to extend the benefits of expertise of tertiary care hospitals to important peripheral hospitals, presently engaged in treatment of Covid patients and effectively tackle the challenges posed by the present Covid Pandemic, reduce the fatality rate in the peripheral areas and referrals to the tertiary care hospitals, it has been felt that the following arrangements shall greatly benefit in mitigating the challenges of present Pandemic and improving health care in peripheral Covid hospitals,” reads the letter.

“Director SKIMS shall depute a team of doctors, once a week of Covid relevant field, to SDH Sopore, CHC Kupwara, DH Bandipora and DH Ganderbal,” reads the order adding that “Principal Govt. Medical Collect Srinagar shall depute a team of doctors of Covid relevant field, once a week, to Trauma Hospital Bijbehara and Covid health care institutions in district Kulgam.”

“Principal SKIMS Medical College (JVC) Bemina shall depute a team of doctors, once a week, to District Hospital, Pulwama and District Hospital, Shopian,” it adds further.

“The arrangement shall be put in place with immediate effect and teams shall have at least one Medicine Consultant and one Anesthesia Consultant, well versed with the Covid treatment and Protocols,” the order added—(KNO)
