Baramulla: A large number of people from various sections of society gathered for the funeral prayers of Khursheed Ahmad Khan, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and the District President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, who was laid to rest at Sherwani Colony Khwajabagh, Baramulla, on Tuesday morning.
Khan, who had been unwell for over a year, experienced a severe decline in his health last week and was admitted to SKIMS Soura. “After being hospitalized for several days, he passed away on Monday evening,” a family friend reported. He was 63.
Following his retirement from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Khan ventured into politics and joined the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party under the leadership of Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari. He was appointed the District President for Baramulla.
Originally from Ladu-Ladoora, Khan, 63,had been residing in Sherwani Colony, Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla. He is survived by his son, Zeeshan Khan, the current Tehsildar of Handwara, and is related to senior lawyer and former President of Bar Association Rafiabad, Advocate Tariq Ahmad Khan, and Assistant Commissioner Nazool, Nasir Mehmood Khan.
The funeral prayers took place at 10 AM at Eidgah Sherwani Colony, attended by numerous socio-political leaders and religious scholars. Many social, political, and religious organizations have expressed their condolences and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
