SRINAGAR, JULY,09 :

“On one side govt says that public need not to visit the govt offices for work but access online, however strangely on the other hand Pensioners are asked to visit offices for physical verification by old fashioned troublesome method”: Qayoom Wani
Srinagar/Notwithstanding the mental agony caused prior to actual physical trouble by virtue of Physical verification of pensioners/ family pensioners for the year 2024-25 is implemented, the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum and J and K pensioners United From has vehemently expressed concern over the said order issued by Finance Department on July 8, 2024. In a statement issued here on Tuesday Chairman JKCSF and JKLPUF Abdul Qayoom Wani referring to the said order has termed the order unjust and against the rights of Senior citizens.
“The order has asked the Treasury officers to commence the task of physical verification of pensioners and family pensioners and by virtue of this order all pensioners and family pensioners have to appear before treasuries or banks except those who have attained age of 80 years or have sickness or can’t appear due to some ‘genuine’ reason. This means a pensioner or a family pensioner who is 79 years old has to, by hook or crook tread to the stairs of banks and treasuries on the cast of his hips and knees ailments and to prove himself live in this era of much talked smart technology,” said Wani
JKLPUF and JKCSF wonders that on one side govt says that general public need not to visit the govt and semi-govt offices but to seek and submit the documents of any kind online and the work/results will be done in due course of time, however strangely on the other hand DG Accounts and Treasures( Finance Department) issues orders of physical verification by way of old fashioned troublesome method and this way the rights of senior citizens are marred. “Good Assistance” is one of the basic rights of a senior citizen.
Wani said that if not by online system, there are yet other methods of verification of pensioners and family pensioners that is to assign the physical verification duty to Inservice employees of the concerned departments who can verify their living status at the door steps thus putting them into tiring trouble can be avoided.
Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum and JK Pensioners United Front has urged upon the LG Govt to intervene into the matter and to safeguard the rights of the Senior Citizens.
