Shopian/Srinagar, Oct 02 :

Jammu and Kashmir Police are conducting extensive searches in Aharbal-Hirpora hamlet to trace out the missing man and woman from Srinagar while the family has staged a protest here and demanded the whereabouts of their beloved.

A police official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have been conducting searches in the Aharbal-Hirpora area of South Kashmir to get any clue about the missing man and woman from Srinagar.

He said that chances of suicide and drowning are very less, saying that the bodies may have come on the surface due to the low water level, adding that the SDRF has been pressed into the service, but as of now, there wasn’t any clue.

The official added they have confirmed the presence of the woman along with the man in a vehicle through a technical investigation.

It is pertinent to mention here that Adil Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi of Rainawari Naidyar Srinagar and a woman who was along with him, have gone missing in Gurwatan on Kulgam-Shopian boundary two days before. The missing man’s vehicle besides a shoe and socks were however found at the spot.

The police official said that a case is being investigated keeping in view all possible angles so that there is no misinformation.

He requested the public to inform them in case they have any information about the incident or get any clue.

Notably, police from both Shopian and Kulgam are searching in the area to get any clue about the incident as on one side it is Manzgam Kulgam and on the other side it is Hirpora Shopian.

Moreover, the family of the missing Adil Bashir Sofi of Naidyar, Rainawari, Srinagar, staged a protest today at Press Enclave, Srinagar.

The sister of Adil told the media persons that on September 30, her brother, who was a driver by profession, went missing.

“At around 08:45 PM, we received a phone call from Rainawari Police Station enquiring about him. We tried to call my brother’s number, but it was switched off,” he said.

“We contacted the police and they informed us that they had found the cab near Aharbal, but it was empty. Later, we received another call from Hirpora Shopian Police Station, inquiring about the cab,” the family said, adding that when they reached there, they saw the cab inside the police station, along with the brother’s shoes and clothes.

“We have no issues with the police; but our only concern is that no missing report has been filed by either Shopian or Rainawari police. We would like to request the authorities to help us find our beloved, as we are extremely worried about him and do not know where he has gone,” the family demanded—(KNO)
