Chairman J&K Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), Abdul Qayoom Wani, has expressed deep concern over the rising number of road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly involving young and untrained drivers. Reckless driving, coupled with inadequate training and the alarming trend of minors driving vehicles, has claimed numerous innocent lives.
Wani emphasized the urgent need for parents to take responsibility by ensuring their children do not drive without proper training and licenses. “It is distressing to see lives being lost due to the negligence of allowing untrained individuals to drive,” he said.
The JKCSF calls upon the Traffic Department to enforce traffic laws rigorously and to revive penalties for those violating traffic rules. Stricter monitoring mechanisms must be implemented to curb reckless driving and ensure road safety.
In light of these concerns, JKCSF urges the authorities to take immediate action. A systematic approach to traffic monitoring and stringent penalties can significantly reduce road accidents, saving countless lives. Wani also appealed to civil society and the public to cooperate with the authorities in creating a safer driving culture.
