Baramulla, December 14:

The 4th National Lok Adalat was officially inaugurated today by Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla,Jawad Ahmad,at the District Court Complex Baramulla.The event, conducted under the supervision of Mr. Javid Ahmad Paray, Secretary, DLSA, saw the establishment of 11 benches across the district to facilitate the settlement of various disputes.

Four benches were set up at the District Court Complex Baramulla, led by Principal District & Sessions Judge Baramulla, Jawad Ahmad, Additional District & Sessions Judges, Special Mobile Magistrates and Sub-Judges. Additionally, two benches were formed at Tehsil Legal Services Committees (TLSC) in Sopore, Pattan, Uri, Boniyar, Dangiwacha, and Tangmarg.

A total of 9,706 cases were brought before the Lok Adalat, and 8,806 cases were successfully settled through amicable resolutions, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Lok Adalat in providing timely justice. As a result of these settlements, an amount of Rs. 62,23,913 was realized.

The event was well-received by judicial officers, advocates, and litigants, highlighting the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in reducing the burden on the judicial system and ensuring access to justice for all.
