New Delhi, December 19:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday (December 19, 2024) that “the ecosystem of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has almost ended.”

Mr. Shah reviewed the security situation in J&K on Thursday in the presence of Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, Army chief Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and J&K Director-General of Police Nalin Prabhat, among others.

Mr. Shah stated that in line with government’s ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ against terrorism, the goal of ‘Terror-Free Jammu and Kashmir’ will be achieved at the earliest and all resources will be made available for this.

Mr. Shah said the unprecedented participation of the people of J&K in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections shows that they have full faith in the democracy of the country. He appreciated efforts of the security agencies for a significant decline in terrorist incidents, infiltration and recruitment of youth in terrorist organisations.

He directed all security agencies to continue working in a coordinated manner to eliminate terrorism, emphasising on the implementation of Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan in mission mode.

Before the meeting, he met J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah separately.

Mr. Abdullah said that he discussed restoration of Statehood with Mr. Shah and discussed other aspects of governance.(Agency)
