SRINAGAR, MAY 22 :

The Kashmir Press Club (KPC) on Saturday organized the second drive of vaccination for working Journalists at its premises in Srinagar. The association has also demanded the working journalists to be considered as the frontline workers.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), KPC said that likewise other frontline workers, journalists are also reporting from ground zero in the ongoing pandemic situation in Kashmir along with the other parts of the country.

Many journalists, who took their first jab as they had missed the first drive said that it is a good initiative taken by the KPC as far as the Covid vaccination for working Journalists is concerned, however, the government should equally consider them as frontline warriors.

A senior journalist during the inoculation drive told KNO that it is always a good initiative when it comes to the welfare of journalists’ fraternity and they have been reporting this pandemic from ground zero to get the factual details and happenings on the ground.

Another journalist working with a national news channel said that it is always challenging and risky to report the pandemic from ground zero. “Though in many parts of the country journalists have been given the status of frontline workers, but we are still behind. Government should really give a thought to it and they should consider journalists as frontline warriors.”

KPC senior executive member and senior photojournalist, Farooq Ahmad Khan said that this was the second drive of vaccination for journalists and the purpose of the drive was to make journalists safe from getting any severity in case of getting infection.

“There will be more vaccination drives in the future for journalists who missed out on vaccination,” he said.

Pertinently, KPC had earlier held the vaccination drive for journalists in the last month—(KNO)
