Baramulla, Feb 11:
In a crucial pre-budget meeting at the Civil Secretariat, President of Traders Federation Baramulla, Er. Tariq Ahmad Mughloo, presented a detailed memorandum to J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, outlining the long-standing issues faced by Baramulla and North Kashmir.
Er. Mughloo urged the Chief Minister to allocate sufficient funds in the upcoming budget for several key projects. He highlighted the need for a 24×7 ICU facility and MRI services at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, to which Omar Abdullah assured financial and staffing support within this year’s budget.
Another major demand was the establishment of a Mini Secretariat in Baramulla, for which a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been submitted. The Chief Minister pledged funds for this project, which will house various government departments.
Additionally, Er. Mughloo sought allocations for a modern car parking facility, a Mother and Child Care Hospital at the old Baramulla hospital premises, and a new water supply scheme. The Chief Minister also promised support for the Khel Gaon projects in Azadganj and Janbazpora, along with tourism-related initiatives to boost employment in North Kashmir.
The Traders Federation also pressed for the clearance of a driving institute at Drangbal and the resumption of stalled work on the football stadium at Rangwar, which was initially laid by Omar Abdullah in his previous term but was halted by subsequent governments.
Er. Mughloo thanked the Chief Minister for his patient hearing and hoped for generous funding in the upcoming budget to address the developmental needs of Baramulla, which, he stressed, had been ignored by previous administrations.
