On his maiden visit to IRP-1st Battalion, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, Sh. Anand Jain-IPS, conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements and interacted with officers and personnel. The visit covered A-Coy Katra, E-Coy, and the Battalion Headquarters at Reasi.
Sh. Anand Jain was warmly received by Smt. Anita Sharma-IPS, Commandant, IRP-1st Battalion, and Sh. Sanjay Kotwal, SSP Railways Katra. During his visit, the ADGP inspected A-Coy Headquarters, Railway Guards, and security personnel stationed at Katra. He directed the Guard Commander and sentries to remain extra vigilant in light of the prevailing security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Upon his arrival at the Battalion Headquarters, the ADGP was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Unit Quarter Guard. As part of a plantation drive at A-Coy Headquarters, he planted a Mango tree, emphasizing environmental sustainability. He also interacted with the Gazetted Officers (GOs) and Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs) before conducting a thorough inspection of the Battalion complex, accompanied by senior officers, including Smt. Anita Sharma-IPS, Commandant, IRP-1st Battalion, Sh. Paramvir Singh, SSP Reasi, Sh. Rajinder Singh, SSP APCR Jammu, and Sh. Paramjeet Singh, Dy.CO IRP-1st Battalion.
A significant highlight of the visit was the ADGP’s tribute to Shaheed Gulab Singh, who sacrificed his life fighting terrorists at Camp Keller, Shopian, on March 19, 2011. In his honor, the ADGP inaugurated the “Shaheed Gulab Singh Memorial Park” and planted a Juniper (Ornamental) plant as a symbol of remembrance and respect for the martyr’s bravery and dedication.
A Darbar was conducted, providing officers and officials of IRP-1st Battalion a platform to discuss their concerns. The ADGP attentively listened to their grievances and assured them of timely redressal.
During his visit to the E-Coy Headquarters at Sub Jail Reasi, the ADGP interacted with officers and officials, further strengthening morale within the unit. He also inspected vital installations at Bhimgarh Fort, Reasi, ensuring all security measures were in place.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintaining security and honoring the sacrifices of its brave personnel.
