Army in collaboration with Voluntary Medicare Society extends support to para athletes

Boniyar, 21 Oct 2021.For the first time, Wheel Chair Basketball and Sitting Volleyball matches were organised by Army and Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) at Boniyar Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
First of its kind in Baramulla District,  the  Exhibition Wheel Chair Basketball match and Sitting Volleyball match attracted scores of Para Athletes from across Kashmir Valley who participated and showcased their sports talent.
Theme of the event was “Promotion of Health, Rights &Social Integration for Para Athletes”Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), an NGO, was established in theyear 1970 and has been serving the cause of para athletes for the past51 years.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Uri Harvinder Singh flanked by Commanding Officer 5 JAT regiment  Luchipora were special guests on the occasion besides various public representatives and officals of sports council were present. 
Army salutes indomitable will and enthusiasm of the participating para athletes, who have overcome their limitation throughdetermination and showcased exceptional sporting talent during theevent, Commanding Officer Luchipora Battalion said while addressing the gathering.
