Condemns Baisaran attack, seeks protection for J&K residents across India, urges dialogue & end to youth harassment

The Working Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) onWednesday unanimously passed seven crucial resolutions addressing a wide range of political, humanitarian, and constitutional concerns.
Resolutions as per news agency JKNS strongly condemned recent violence, reaffirmed the party’s ideological core, and emphasized the urgent need for peace, protection of civil rights, and restoration of J&K’s constitutional position.
The Working Committee condemned the horrific Baisaran terror attack, which killed 26 people, including young Kashmiri Syed Adil Hussain Shah. It also condemned continued Pakistani shelling that killed 23 civilians. The committee expressed deep sorrow and paid tributes to party members and activists who passed away since the last meeting.
The party reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, calling it central to the aspirations and dignity of the people. The committee pledged to continue the fight for its reinstatement.
The party demanded full and immediate restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, referencing assurances made in Parliament and the Supreme Court’s constitutional stance.
Welcoming the ceasefire announcement, the party urged both India and Pakistan to uphold peace and pursue lasting solutions through dialogue.
The committee reiterated its pledge to uphold promises made in the party’s manifesto and vowed to pursue a political and constitutional struggle for justice and the rights of the people through democratic means.
The committee acknowledged the overwhelming support of people who condemned the Baisaran attack and assisted stranded tourists. It urged the Government of India not to squander this opportunity and warned against arbitrary arrests, harassment, use of bulldozers, and suppression of media voices.
The Working Committee condemned targeted harassment of students, traders, and residents from J&K across India following recent incidents. It called on all state governments to ensure their safety, dignity, and protection. (JKNS)
