Amid escalating tensions in Iran, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said he spoke with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to discuss the safety of Kashmiri students currently residing in the country.

In a post on X, as per the news agency JKNS, CM Omar wrote, “Just spoke to @DrSJaishankar regarding the situation in Iran, particularly the welfare & safety of Kashmiri students in the country. The Hon Minister assured me that @MEAIndia is in close contact with their counterparts in Iran & will take all necessary steps to safeguard all Indian students in Iran.”

The statement comes amid rising concerns for students stranded in Tehran and other Iranian cities after reports of Israeli strikes and ongoing regional instability. (JKNS)
