On the occasion of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, Gallant soldiers of 9 Sikh along with their families visited the battle field locations in Nowgam sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district along the line of control.
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that the event commenced with laying of floral tribute to martyrs at war memorial and a visit to holy pilgrimage shrine of Peer Baba.
“The veterans remembered their fallen brothers with pride on their victorious legacy and shared their experiences and war stories with troops deployed at the line of control. For all war veterans, it was a nostalgic moment where the battle cry of toughest times is still re-echoed. It came to veterans as an immense pleasure to re-visit the battlefield on the eve of Swarnim Vijay Varsh of 1971 war,” the statement reads.
It reads that the event, organized by Nowgam brigade, was well received and appreciated by the war veterans. (KNS)
