Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday reiterated the demand for the immediate restoration of statehood, calling it “pivotal for steering J&K back on the path of development and addressing people’s growing hardships.”
Speaking at a meeting of block presidents and senior party functionaries in Pahalgam as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Dr. Abdullah said, “The hardships of our people have only multiplied since 2015. Restoring statehood is not just a political necessity, it is the first step towards healing and rebuilding faith between the people and the administration.”
The meeting, organized by MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani, was also attended by senior party leader and former parliamentarian Sharief Ud Din Shariq and MLA Shangus, Advocate Reyaz Ahmad Khan.
Dr. Abdullah also appreciated the efforts of the Omar Abdullah-led government, noting its role in “narrowing the gap between the administration and the people.”
Earlier, the NC President visited the residence of noted bureaucrat G.A. Peer, who recently passed away, and joined party functionaries in offering Fatiha prayers for the departed soul. (KNC)
