Jammu, Aug 19 :

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Tuesday visited Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, accompanied by MLA Bahu Constituency Vikram Randhawa, to review healthcare facilities and inspect hospital infrastructure.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Madam Sakeena Itoo paid an official visit to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. She was accompanied by Hon’ble MLA of Bahu Constituency, Shri Vikram Randhawa ji.

The visit was also attended by Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar; Director AYUSH, Dr. Nuzhat Bashir Shah; and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Harbaksh Singh.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Narinder Singh Bhatial, apprised the Hon’ble Minister of the current functioning and overall performance of the hospital.

During the visit, Hon’ble MLA Shri Vikram Randhawa raised concerns regarding the underutilized 200-bedded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) block.

Responding to this, Health Minister instructed the Director Health Services, Jammu, to submit a formal proposal for optimal utilization of the MCH building, in view of the fact that the old hospital building has been declared unsafe as per the safety audit report submitted by the Superintendent Engineer, Structural Wing (Design, Inspection and Quality Control Department), J&K, Jammu.

The Minister also inspected various hospital departments including the Emergency Wing, Inpatient Department (IPD) Block, and Blood Bank. She expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the hospital and commended the efforts of the medical staff and administration.

Before Visiting Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, she also paid a visit to G.B Pant Hospital.
