The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that arresting an elected representative may prove highly damaging and people may may not come next time to vote.

Speaking to PTI as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, CM Omar Abdullah on AAP MLA Mehraj Malik detention under the PSA, said, “It is wrong to arrest him, and the law used to arrest him is even more wrong.

“Arresting an elected public representative will prove to be highly damaging,” Omar said.

“This year, the people of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the elections with great enthusiasm, but after this, when we expect them to vote next year as well, they may not come forward, CM Omar said.” (KNC)
