Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday paid rich tributes to Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Muzammil Bhat on his martyrdom anniversary.

The J&K Police, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) recalled his supreme sacrifice during an encounter with terrorists at Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag District on 13th September 2023.

In a post on X, Kashmir Zone Police wrote, “All ranks of J&K Police solemnly commemorate the supreme sacrifice of DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who laid down his life in the line of duty.”

“DySP Bhat was a dedicated officer who demonstrated unwavering commitment and exceptional courage by leading from the front in the face of grave danger. For his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry honour,” it said.

“While his loss is deeply felt across the force, his legacy endures inspiring our service, guiding our duty, and upholding the values of honour and sacrifice,” the post added.

“Anantnag Police paid heartfelt tribute to Dy SP Shaheed Humayun Muzammil Bhat on his death anniversary by offering drinking water to commuters across the district — a gesture symbolizing service, sacrifice, and remembrance,” the district police said in a post X.

Other J&K Police officers also paid tributes to the officer. They prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with his family—(KNO)
