Srinagar, Sep 22 :

Asserting that running a government in the Union Territory is akin to walking on sword’s edge, National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that the Omar Abdullah led regime won’t step back and will continue to move on.

Talking to reporters here, the NC President as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) expressed optimism about the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “It’s the collective aspiration of the people of the region. Every person of Jammu and Kashmir is hopeful about it.”

He said, “We believe the Supreme Court will take note of this and restore the rights that were promised by the government.”

Reacting to the detention of Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA), the NC President said, “Mehraj Malik used unparliamentary language out of anger, but slapping a PSA on him is wrong. This could have been resolved through dialogue and withdrawal of his words.”—(KNO)
