The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has apprehended a man who had been evading arrest for the last four years, officials said on Sunday.
Spokesperson in a statement to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, CBK said that the accused, Khalid Sahani, son of Farooq Sahani, a resident of Reshi Mohalla, Khar Doori, Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 38/2018 registered under Sections 419 and 420 of the RPC at Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir.
A warrant under Section 512 CrPC had been issued against him by the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Vailoo (District Anantnag) on December 3, 2021, it reads.
Acting on specific inputs, the Economic Offences Wing traced and arrested the accused on October 10, 2025. He was produced before the competent court, which remanded him to judicial custody and ordered that he be lodged at Central Jail Srinagar, statement reads.
The arrest marks the execution of a long-pending warrant, reflecting the continued efforts of Crime Branch Kashmir to bring offenders involved in economic and financial crimes to justice.
CBK reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that those attempting to evade the law are apprehended and dealt with as per legal procedure. (KNC)
