Srinagar, Oct 14 (Gulistan News):
The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party has suffered a major setback after its Chief Spokesperson, Muntazir Mohiudin, announced that he will contest the upcoming Budgam Assembly by-election as an independent candidate.
The announcement came during the popular talk show Open Talk on Gulistan News, where Mohiudin made the declaration publicly in response to a question from the audience about his political future.
Mohiudin said:“I would like to tell my people and all my brothers from the constituency, when I was asked from the audience what I plan to do next, my simple answer is that I will go back to my people and contest as an independent candidate. I am not with any party; I am independent.”
Mohiudin’s decision marks a major jolt to the Altaf Bukhari-led Apni Party, which was preparing for the by-polls in Budgam and Nagrota constituencies.
Notably, during the 2024 Assembly elections, Mohiudin had refrained from contesting and instead supported Omar Abdullah in Budgam, saying he believed Omar was the right candidate to address the problems of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
