Baramulla, 16th October 2025:

In a spirited celebration of youth and athleticism, Range Police Headquarters Baramulla organized a Two-Day Badminton Championship for Boys and Girls under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25. The event was held at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Baramulla and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 50 young athletes representing all districts of North Kashmir Range—Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Handwara, and Sopore. Participants competed in Singles and Doubles formats across both Boys and Girls categories, showcasing remarkable talent and sportsmanship.
The championship was graced by DIG North Kashmir Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) as Chief Guest, who commended the initiative and encouraged the youth to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. The event was also attended by SSP Baramulla Shri Gurinderpal Singh (IPS), SP Hqrs. Baramulla Shri K.K. Hariprasad (IPS), ASP Hqrs. Baramulla Smt. Neha Jain (IPS), Senior Officers from Range and District Police Offices, SHO Baramulla, and dignitaries from the Sports Department.
A vibrant closing ceremony marked the culmination of the championship, where medals, cash prizes, and certificates were distributed among winners, runners-up, and all participants. In his address, DIG NKR Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) urged young students to work hard, stay disciplined, and contribute positively to society through their dedication and character.
The event not only promoted healthy competition but also strengthened police-public engagement, reinforcing J&K Police’s commitment to youth empowerment and community outreach through sports.
