Srinagar, Oct 30:

National Conference (NC) leader and MLA from Gurez, Nazir Gurezi has clarified that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah refused to draw any comparison between party MP Aga Syed Ruhulla Mehdi and senior leader Mian Altaf Ahmad, saying Ruhulla is relatively junior and lacks the political experience of Mian Altaf.

Gurezi said Ruhulla should introspect before criticising his own party. “Instead of pointing fingers at the government, Ruhulla should tell people what he has achieved during his one year as a Member of Parliament and which leaders in Delhi he has been able to convince on issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir,” Gurezi remarked.

He added that the National Conference had collectively worked hard to ensure Ruhulla’s victory in the parliamentary elections. “We all sought votes for him and stood by him as party soldiers. It is unfortunate that he is now targeting his own leadership,” Gurezi said.

The MLA maintained that the party stands united under Omar Abdullah’s leadership and that attempts to create divisions within the National Conference will not succeed.
