In a significant boost to elderly healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Vay Vandana scheme, Baramulla District has registered an impressive 55.4% increase in health card issuances for senior citizens aged 70 and above within a mere seven days ( 29th October – 5th Nov ) This rapid progress underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring universal health coverage for the district’s venerable population.
It is pertinent to mention here that Vay Vandana scheme for enrolling 70+ senior citizens for this scheme was introduced last November2024 & could achieve only 23% for whole year .
In order to expedite the implementation of the scheme , Deputy Commissioner Baramullah issued order on 28/10/2025 by appointing Dr Jozi Bashir (Dy Chief medical officer) Baramullah as nodal officer for this scheme .
