DC directs DL suspension for drug offenders; Edu institutions told to monitor CCTV

Baramulla, Nov 07:

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, Friday ordered strict surveillance and tough action against drug offenders during the 22nd NCORD meeting held at Dak Bunglow Baramulla.

Baramulla DC directed departments to install CCTV cameras at all identified hotspots. He told the Education Department to monitor CCTV systems in schools and colleges to stop illegal activity.

He also instructed the ARTO to suspend driving licences of anyone found involved in drug peddling or consumption under the law.

Officials from Police, Health, Education, Excise, Social Welfare and other departments shared data on ongoing action. They agreed to tighten coordination to check trafficking and abuse in the district.

The DC said enforcement, awareness and rehabilitation must run together. He asked departments to scale up campaigns in schools, colleges and public areas to inform young people about the risks of drug use.
