Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday evening said that all specialised agencies have been deployed to investigate the powerful blast that tore through a vehicle near the Red Fort, leaving casualties and widespread damage.
Speaking to news wire ANI, Home Minister, as per Kashmir News Corner — KNC, said the explosion occurred around 7 pm in a Hyundai i20 at the Subhash Marg traffic signal, injuring pedestrians and damaging several nearby vehicles. He added that preliminary inputs suggested loss of lives in the incident.
Shah said teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Special Branch reached the site within ten minutes of the initial alert, followed by specialised units of the NSG, NIA, and Forensic Science Laboratory.
He said instructions have been issued to scan all CCTV footage in the vicinity as part of the probe.
The Home Minister said he had spoken to the Delhi Commissioner of Police and the Special Branch chief, both of whom are supervising the initial investigation on the ground.
“We are examining every angle. A thorough probe is underway, and all possibilities are being looked into. Findings will be shared with the public at the earliest,” he added.
Shah further said he would visit the blast site shortly and later meet the injured at the hospital. (KNC)
