Baramulla, November 15, 2025:

Baramulla Police have busted an organized theft network involved in the illegal cutting and sale of willow trees, leading to the arrest of 09 accused persons and the recovery of stolen property.

Police Post Palhallan received a complaint on 12-11-2025 from Hilal Ahmad Tantray, Circle Officer Rakh & Form, regarding the Illicit cutting & theft of willow trees from the Rakh & Form Nursery during the night of November 10–11, 2025. Acting promptly, Police Station Pattan registered FIR No. 226/2025 under relevant secton and initiated the investigation immediately.

Two suspects using vehicles JK05G-3502 and JK05K-9210 were intercepted, whose interrogation uncovered a wider group engaged in the offence. Based on their disclosures, police recovered all stolen willow logs from a factory in Awantipora, seized both vehicles, and recovered ₹89,900 as proceeds of the illegal sale.

Further investigation is ongoing to trace additional links. Baramulla Police remains committed to safeguarding public property and ensuring strict action against all involved in unlawful activities.
