Jammu, Nov 18 :

The Jammu Police, along with the hospital administration, on Tuesday stepped up inspections of unidentified and unclaimed lockers belonging to staff and doctors at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital as a precautionary security measure.

Dr. Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent of SMGS Hospital, told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that the exercise to verify lockers was already underway but has now been intensified in the wake of the Delhi blast.

“We were already conducting this exercise, but it has been intensified after the Delhi blast. Today as well, we broke open the lock of an almirah in the presence of security officials. We have constituted a four-member committee to supervise and conduct these checks,” he said.

Officials said the inspection drive aims to ensure that no unidentified or suspicious belongings are stored within the hospital premises. Further security measures are expected to continue in the days ahead. (KNC)
