Probe into Death launched
Tangmarg, Nov 23 :
A leopard was found dead on Sunday afternoon near a petrol pump in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’sBaramulla district.
Eyewitnesses said that commuters noticed the big cat lying motionless at the roadside. On checking, they found the leopard dead, with blood visible around its mouth. The cause of death was not immediately known.
Locals suspect the animal may have been hit by a vehicle during the night, as the spot falls along a busy stretch of the Tangmarg highway. However, officials said no conclusion can be drawn until medical examination is completed.
Residents informed the Wildlife Department, which sent a team to the site. The carcass was recovered and shifted for autopsy.
Officials said a post-mortem will be conducted on Monday to establish the exact cause of death.(KNS)
