Srinagar, Dec 18 :
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has conferred Executive Magistrate powers upon all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) and Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) within their respective areas of jurisdiction across the Union Territory.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the decision has been taken under sub-section (1) of Section 14 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
The notification authorises RTOs and ARTOs to exercise the powers of Executive Magistrates in their territorial jurisdictions until further orders, with the aim of strengthening administrative enforcement and ensuring effective implementation of the new legal framework in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
