Dubs PDP’s land bill as self-serving, not pro-people

Srinagar, Dec 18 :

National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanveer Sadiq, on thuresday declared that the J&K Land Grants (Restoration & Protection) Bill is officially active in the Assembly, marking a decisive step toward reclaiming the region’s land rights.

In a statement issued, Sadiq emphasized that the primary objective of this legislation is to undo the controversial 2022 amendments and fully restore the original 1960 framework. He stated that the Bill is designed to provide ironclad protection to every lawful resident, local leaseholder, and public institution in Jammu & Kashmir.

Addressing the political landscape, Sadiq launched a sharp critique of the PDP, dismissing their recent legislative claims as a facade for nepotism. He asserted that the PDP’s version of the bill was focused on saving their own relatives rather than serving the broader public interest.

He clarified that the National Conference is not in the business of shielding privilege or elite circles, but is instead focused on institutional justice for the common man. In line with the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Sadiq reaffirmed the government’s commitment to social equity.

He promised that for those citizens who currently possess no land, the state will fulfill its pledge to provide it. The spokesperson concluded by reiterating that the NC-led government stands as a shield for the lawful residents of J&K, ensuring that the territory’s resources remain in the hands of its rightful owners.(KNS)
