Mother of Karamat Qayoom

Large number of people participated in funeral prayers, BWJA,HASK, NKJA, BAR, Beopar Mandal, Teachers fraternity,  among several  socio- political and religious organizations express condolence and solidarity

Baramulla, Dec 12: The mother of senior journalist, Chairman Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA), and Patron of Human Aid Society Kashmir (HASK), Haji Karamat Qayoom, passed away after prolonged illness in the early hours of Tuesday. She was 102 years old.

The departed soul, known for her piety, simplicity, and dignified life, is survived by a large and respectable family. Her Namaz-e-Janazah was offered at 11:30 AM at Eidgah-e-Qadeem, Baramulla in which large number of people from different walks of life participated after which Taziyat prayer congregations continued at the family’s ancestral home at Eidgah Qadeem, old town Baramulla.

A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the funeral prayers and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. Members of the journalistic fraternity, social and political activists, traders, legal luminaries, religious scholars, and civil society representatives thronged the residence to offer condolences.

Condolence and prayer meetings (Fateha Khwani) were held throughout the day, wherein rich tributes were paid to the departed soul. Speakers expressed deep grief and extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of Haji Karamat Qayoom, terming the loss as irreparable and profound.

A delegation of Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) led by its President Gulzar Ahmad, accompanied, General Secretary Umar Rashid, and senior journalists from Pattan including senior journalist Haji Mohammad Latief Bhat Editor Kashmir Tehalka and KNS, Sopore, Tangmarg, Uri visited the bereaved family and offered their condolences. The delegation prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and courage for the family to bear the loss.

Senior broadcaster and producer Shaherbeen (retied) Maqsood Ahmad and Mohammad Hussian Zaffar along with other members for All India Radio’s Shaherbeen program visited the family and expressed their solidarity.  

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Images family, in its condolence message, expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the mother of senior journalist and BWJA Chairman Haji Karamat Qayoom and online editor Abdul Qayoom Naik participated in funeral prayers. The Editor in Chief Bashir Manzar, Manging Editor Javid Jeelani, management, editorial team, and staff of the leading daily extended their heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. Describing the loss as deeply painful and irreparable, the Kashmir Images family prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the departed mother the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and to bestow patience, strength, and courage upon the family to bear this immense loss.

The North Kashmir Journalists Association (NKJA) also expressed deep sorrow over the demise and conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family.

Expressing his condolences, President Beopar Mandal Baramulla, Tariq Ahmad Magloo, prayed for the highest place in Jannah for the departed soul and patience for the family.

Meanwhile, Chairman Human Aid Society Kashmir (HASK), Bashir Ahmad Mir, expressed deep grief and shock over the sad demise of  of the mother of HASK Patron and senior journalist Haji Karamat Qayoom.

Later, a delegation of HASK led by Vice Chairman Er. Mohammad Sadiq  accompanied by senior members Peerzada Irshad,Mohammad Yousuf Khan, Reyaz Ahmad Ganai, Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, Mohmmad Sultan and other members visited the family to offer condolences.

Representatives of Injuman Urdu Sahafat, including Fayaz Bukhari, Majid Sheeri, and Manzoor Sheeri, also visited the residence and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

The Baramulla Bar Association (BAR) in its condolence message expressed profound grief over the demise and extended heartfelt sympathies to senior journalist Haji Karamat Qayoom and his family. A delegation led by senior advocates Abdul Salam Rather, Advocate Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Vice President BAR Basharat Khaliq and others visited the family.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum Baramulla President Mohmmad Yaqoob Bhat,    Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association President Altaf Hussain Bhat, Jammu and Kashmir Teacher  Forum, Senior PDP leader and spokesman Mohmmad Rafiq, Ghulam Hassan Rahi and other political leaders expressed profound grief over the demise and extended heartfelt sympathies to senior journalist Haji Karamat Qayoom and his family.

All organizations prayed for Maghfirat of the departed soul and for Almighty Allah to grant her the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and to bestow patience and strength upon the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
