SOPORE NOVEMBER, 12 :
The beneficiaries under Housing Scheme for all on Friday staged protest in Sopore stating that despite the passage of three years government has failed to keep their promise as they have been yet to avail the scheme.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that the people marched towards Municipal Council Sopore and demanded answers from the authorities.
“We have been struggling from the past several years. They have been delaying the schemes by giving one excuse or the other. The authorities must answer, when we shall be benefited under the scheme”, said one of the protestor.
Another protestor claimed that the authorities have been taking new cases under the scheme, while old cases have been kept at bay, which is a sheer injustice to all of us. We are here to protest and we demand answers.
Housing for All Scheme also known as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor.
President MC Sopore Masrat Kar when asked about the issues, she said, that she cannot do anything as matter lies with the concerned department. She added I have all the list, but it is the department, that has to take final call.
She later joined the protestors at Iqbal Market Sopore.
Meanwhile a senior government official said that he has cleared the issue from the administration including that of the list.
However, the issue is being politized for the vote bank, which we won’t let happen at any cost.
He added, the genuine case will be cleared, however, one has to look , why department is not clearing the dues.(KD)
