Mufti Azam J&K Issues Stern Warning over Rising Gohar Shahi Fitna, Flags Threat to Peace and Social Harmony;
In a statement issued here,Assures Administrative Intervention to Maintain Law & order in J&K. Public advisory on the Un-Islamic Propaganda and Fitna Attributed to Younis Al-Gohar Statement It has come to public attention that a renewed wave of propaganda is being circulated by Younis AlGohar, who projects himself as a disciple or “spiritual son” of Gohar Shahi and attempts to present a man-made, self-styled ideology under the garb of Islam and Sufism. This narrative is categorically unIslamic, has no basis in the Qur’an, Sunnah, or the authentic tradition of Tasawwuf, and represents a serious fitna (trial and deviation) for unsuspecting and innocent people. Islam is a complete and final faith, perfected through the Qur’an and the teachings of prophet Mohammed (SAW). Any claim that introduces new doctrines, divine status to individuals, altered beliefs about Prophet hood, or selfdeclared spiritual hierarchies outside the established Islamic framework stands rejected by consensus (Ijma) of Muslim scholars across centuries. Islamic history has repeatedly witnessed false claimants, fabricated saints, and ideological entrepreneurs who attempted to: Exploit religious emotions Create personality cults Divide the Ummah for personal relevance, influence, or material gain From Musaylimah al-Kadhdhab in early Islamic history to later sectarian distortions, such movements eventually collapsed when confronted with knowledge, awareness, and unity of the Ummah. The current propaganda follows the same historical pattern—rebranding falsehood in modern language to mislead a new generation. The Fitna of Gohar Shahi Ideology. The so-called Gohar Shahi narrative represents a fitna because it: Undermines core Islamic beliefs Confuses faith with personality worship Exploits ignorance and spiritual vulnerability Diverts Muslims from Qur’an, Sunnah, and established scholarship Such fitna does not strengthen spirituality; it fractures faith and unity. We urge: Muslims, especially youth, to seek knowledge from authentic scholars and trusted institutions Parents, educators, and community leaders to proactively create awareness Media and civil society to responsibly expose misleading religious propaganda Allah commands believers to verify information and follow truth, not personalities (Qur’an 49:6). Islam does not need reinvention, impersonation, or self-styled saviors. It needs understanding, sincerity, and adherence. Any ideology that deviates from the Qur’an and Sunnah—no matter how attractively packaged—must be recognized, rejected, and responsibly challenged. Awareness is the first defense against fitna.
