Raids underway at several locations; SIT constituted: Police
Jammu, Feb 16 :
Two Pakistani nationals were among three inmates who escaped from a Juvenile Observation Home in RS Pura sector of Jammu after allegedly assaulting police personnel on guard duty on Monday evening.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that at around 5:05 pm, information was received that three inmates fled from custody after attacking and injuring two police personnel deployed at the facility.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Ahsan Anwar, son of Mohammad Anwar, a resident of Nankana Sahib, Punjab, Pakistan; Mohammad Sanaullah, son of Mohammad Zaffer, a resident of Basti Jawewala, Tehsil Dinpur, District Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Pakistan; and Karanjit Singh alias Gugga, son of Arjun Singh, a resident of Dablehar in R.S. Pura.
During the incident, SPO Vinay Kumar and Head Constable Parveen Kumar sustained injuries and were provided medical attention.
Police have launched a massive search operation in the area to trace and apprehend the escaped inmates.
In a statement, police said, “Cognisance has been taken and an investigation has been initiated. Special teams have been constituted and are conducting raids at various locations to apprehend them.”—(KNO)
