Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that Er. Imtiaz Ahmad, In-charge Executive Engineer (Civil), Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), has been placed under suspension with immediate effect pending an inquiry into his conduct.
As per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, The action follows a complaint raised by the legislator from Eidgah constituency regarding the dilapidated condition of Waganpora Grid Tehsil Office Road and allegations of use of sub-standard material in the macadamization of the road.
As per official order issued by PWD, a copy of which lies with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, During the suspension period, Er. Imtiaz Ahmad will remain attached to the Office of the Chief Engineer, Public Works (R&B), Zone North, Kashmir, and will be entitled to suspension allowance as per rules.
The government has assigned the additional charge of Executive Engineer, City Roads (SMC) Division, to Er. Fareed Ahmad Khan, In-charge Executive Engineer, Public Works (R&B) Division, Dalgate.
Meanwhile, Er. Sushil Kumar, In-charge Chief Engineer, Public Works (R&B), Zone North, Kashmir, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to probe the allegations, particularly concerning the quality of macadamization and works executed in the City Roads Division over the past two years, along with other developmental projects carried out under the officer’s supervision.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to submit a detailed report within 30 days. Er. Fareed Ahmad Khan will act as the Presenting Officer in the case.
The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to quality standards in public works across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
