SOPORE, FEBRUARY ,21:

HSS Dangarpora observed International Mother Tongue Day with remarkable enthusiasm and intellectual vibrancy, reaffirming its commitment to the preservation and promotion of linguistic heritage.
The event was presided over by Principal Mr. Mushtaq Sopori, who addressed a distinguished gathering comprising academicians, scholars, and members of the school faculty. In his eloquent and insightful speech, he underscored the significance of the mother tongue as the cornerstone of cultural identity and national recognition. Emphasising its pedagogical value, he advocated for the effective use of the mother tongue as a powerful medium of instruction to ensure deeper understanding and inclusive education. He further stressed the need for collective unity and cooperation to accord the Kashmiri language its rightful place in society.
Among the other prominent speakers were Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather former Principal GDC Sopore— former lecturer Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, and Ms. Mehboob-un-Nisa (Master). The speakers expressed concern over the declining status of the Kashmiri language in Jammu and Kashmir and called upon all stakeholders to take immediate and concrete measures to revitalise and institutionalise it as a defining language of the region. They also highlighted the urgent need to sensitise younger generations to the essence, richness, and legacy of their mother tongue.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted with grace and efficiency by Mr. Muhammad Ashraf, Senior Lecturer, who ensured the smooth flow of the event.
The celebration concluded with a renewed pledge to safeguard linguistic diversity and to promote Kashmiri as a vibrant symbol of cultural pride and collective identity.
