Uri, Mar 15:Security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, eliminating a terrorist during an overnight operation, officials said on Sunday.
According to official sources, acting on specific intelligence input from the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and 15 in the general area of Buchhar in Uri.
Officials said alert troops noticed suspicious movement of a terrorist hiding in thick vegetation. The ambush party readjusted its position and challenged the suspect, who opened indiscriminate fire on the security forces.In the ensuing exchange of fire, a terrorist of Pakistani origin was killed. Security forces recovered warlike stores from the encounter site, including an AK-series rifle, pistols and a large quantity of ammunition.
Meanwhile, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said in a post on X that “Operation Diggi-2”is still underway in the area, confirming that the infiltration attempt was successfully foiled.
