Srinagar, Mar 24 :

A Full Court Reference was held at the Srinagar Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to bid farewell to Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, who demitted office upon attaining the age of superannuation.

The ceremony, held in the Court Room of the Chief Justice, was conducted in accordance with the long-standing conventions and traditions of the High Court.

The event was attended by Chief Justice Arun Palli along with sitting Judges including Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Sanjay Dhar, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Justice Rajesh Sekhri, Justice Mohd. Yousuf Wani, Justice Sanjay Parihar, and Justice Shahzad Azeem, accompanied by their spouses. Former Chief Justices, former Judges, senior civil and police officers, members of the Bar, Judicial Officers, officers of the Registry, and Justice Wani’s family were also present. Advocates and officials from the Jammu Wing joined through virtual participation.

The farewell address was delivered by Mohsin Qadri, Senior Additional Advocate General, who lauded Justice Wani’s judicial acumen, fairness, and commitment to the rule of law, particularly emphasizing his efforts to ensure access to justice for the marginalized. Advocate Waseem Gull, President of the Kashmir Advocates Association, commended his distinguished judicial service and adherence to constitutional values.

In his address, Chief Justice Arun Palli highlighted Justice Wani’s academic excellence, professional integrity, and balanced judicial temperament, noting that his tenure earned him respect across the legal fraternity. The Chief Justice also acknowledged the support of Justice Wani’s family throughout his judicial journey.

Justice Wani, in his response, expressed gratitude to the Bench, the Bar, Judicial Officers, Court staff, and his personal staff for their cooperation and support. He emphasized the importance of harmonious collaboration between the Bench and the Bar for the effective dispensation of justice.

The proceedings were conducted by M. K. Sharma, Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The farewell concluded with Justice Wani being accorded a Guard of Honor by security personnel in recognition of his distinguished judicial service. (KNC)
