Jammu, Apr 2:
Asserting that withdrawal of security cover from elected representatives points towards improved security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference legislator Irshad Kar on Thursday said that it has strengthened the case for statehood restoration.
Speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Kar said the decision to scale down security for MLAs and political establishments reflects the government’s own assessment that normalcy has returned to the region.
He said the move sends a clear signal that the situation on the ground has stabilised and therefore there should be no delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Kar said once the government withdraws security from legislators, it cannot continue to cite security concerns as a reason to hold back political processes.
The NC legislator while expressing hope, said the Centre should now move towards restoring statehood, as recent steps indicate confidence in the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)
